Values and Commitment

Our Values

Why talk about ‘values’? Because they provide us with our daily compass and you with a promise of behavior. We’re not perfect, but these aren’t hollow words for us. Here’s what we are all about. It’s the kind of stuff we all teach our kids but then many seem to forget when they walk into the office. Here, we try to not forget the lessons we’ve learned along the way. It’s not very complicated, but then, important things rarely are.

  • Integrity – be true to your word
  • The Golden Rule – treat others as you’d like to be treated
  • Respect the work – bring your ‘A’ game
  • Stay curious – keep learning, keep an open mind
  • Enjoy – life is short, do your work and live your life with a generosity of spirit and sense of fun

Commitment

A big part of our ‘values’ is sharing our good fortune and helping, in our small way, to make our corner of the world a bit better. We commit a portion of our revenues every year to causes that are important to us. This year, we are donating to the following local organizations:

  • The Home for Little Wanderers (www.thehome.org)

The Home for Little Wanderers is a nationally renowned, private, non-profit child and family service agency providing services to more than 10,000 children and families each year through over 30 programs that are measurably changing lives. The mission of The Home is to ensure the healthy development of children at risk, their families and communities through an integrated system of prevention, advocacy, research and a continuum of direct services. With a history dating back to 1799, The Home for Little Wanderers is one of the oldest child welfare agencies in the nation, and the largest in New England.

  • The Greater Boston Food Bank (www.gbfb.org)

The Greater Boston Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England, and one of the largest food banks in the country. It distributes over 20 million pounds of food annually to hundreds of local agencies. They are a trusted and efficient resource for these local food pantries, soup kitchens, day-care centers, youth programs, senior centers, and homeless and residential shelters, providing the food they need to feed the hungry.

  • Cambridge Family & Children's Service (www.helpfamilies.org)

Cambridge Family and Children’s Service provides adoption, respite, foster care, and mentoring services for children and families in need. In partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Social Services and the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation, Cambridge Family and Children’s Service work together to provide care for underprivileged children and families in Massachusetts.

  • Project Bread (www.projectbread.org)

Project Bread is Massachusetts leading anti-hunger organization and is dedicated to alleviating, preventing, and ultimately ending hunger in the Commonwealth. Project Bread funds 400 food pantries, soup kitchens, and food banks all over Massachusetts in addition to running the only statewide hunger hotline that answers 35,000 calls a year from families in need. The organization works extensively with schools to ensure that children receive the proper nutrition by offering breakfast programs and funding summer programs. Every May, Project Bread runs the oldest continual pledge walk in the country, The Walk for Hunger.
